This Sunday welcomes the second Full Moon of 2023.
According to the Farmers Almanac*, it’s known as the Snow Moon due to the typically heavy snowfall that occurs in February in the U.S.

How will the Full Moon effect me?
I’ve been following the moon cycles and monitoring the effects it has on me for the last three years.
And each month and year I notice something different and changeable.
I think that’s because I’m working with nature. Nature is ever changing and just as nature effects us, we also effect nature (have you heard of a little thing called climate change)
These are things we can see, but we also have to consider the things we cant, like the solar system. Depending on what’s going on up there cosmically can also effect us.
Have you heard of Mercury going retrograde?
And so, when we look at the effects of a Full Moon we consider a few things;
- What star sign the moon is in
- Which Planet rules that sign
- What’s happening in the cosmos
- Our own menstrual cycle
- Anything else that’s happening in our lives at the moment in time.
For my moon readings, I tend to focus on points 1 & 2 – I haven’t yet delved deep into astrology although that is next on my list for this year.
Points 4 & 5 – they’re something you need to be aware of. Keeping a journal and writing down how you’re feeling or just journaling in general can help. I use a period tracker for my menstrual cycle.
Yep, there’s lots to consider.
This Full Moon
So, let’s start analysing this Full Moon. On Sunday, she’ll be in the star sign of Leo, and in astrology, Leo is depicted as a Lion.
Lions are a sign of strength, courage and love. With infinite wisdom and strong family ties.
Leo is a fire sign – and like a lion, the sign is known for loyalty, protection of loved ones, being the Sun of the show and having fun!
So, it may be no surprise to hear that her ruling Planet is the Sun.
Now, if we think about that in terms of energy & insight I’m feeling a lot of light, fire, determination, love, fun & playfulness.
In fact, let me tell you a little about the The Sun Tarot card from the Rider Waite collection.
It’s image depicts a naked child sitting on a horse; the child looks extremely happy to be alive and playful with arms stretched out as if to say, “Look at me, I’m here! Come play!”
The child’s nakedness is a sign they have nothing to hide. The Sun is prominent in the background, with four sunflowers, in full bloom; they’ve grown tall and strong.
The message is clear
Stand up tall & strong, no more hiding you or your desires, be you and declare, “Look at me, I’m here!”

The card, just like this Full Moon, brings child-like playfulness, enthusiasm, energy & joy.
If you read my New Moon blog last month, you’ll know the Aquarius New Moon invited you to break free from old stories and habits.
I asked you to incite a rebellion against all those old stories and beliefs you were telling yourself, all so you could create & find a way back to your joy.
The child on The Sun tarot, Your inner child will be knocking on your subconscious stamping their feet demanding that you come out to play.
They will be the disruptor.
You have no choice but to listen and give in to fun, freedom, playfulness & joy.
And that is the message for this Full Moon.
Come out and do the things YOU want to
The things that bring you JOY
Channel your inner child’s enthusiasm and zest for life
Don’t take life so seriously all the time
Make room for adventure
Be curious
After all, life is for living.
Journal prompts for the February Full Moon
I understand things get in the way, or blocks as I’ve come to know them.
They can be personal blocks, blocks from other people, blocks from internal beliefs, blocks from other people’s beliefs, our upbringing, the should’s…
Things that stop us from doing the thing we really want to. Or, from being the person we want to be.
It’s multi layered, but we all have to start somewhere.
It’s never too late to start.
What’s getting in your way?
-What is a block for you?
-Who is a block for you?
-What stories am I telling myself?
-What’s stopping me from having fun?
-Why can’t I just let go?
-How am I self-sabotaging?
Some people like to write their answers down then burn the paper under the Full Moon.

My preference is to write it in my journal, that way I can read & reflect over the coming months.
If the same issues keep arising, then I know I need to change tactics.
And another reason why I don’t burn it, I always have action points because once you’ve rebelled & released all that’s stopping you, you need to have a plan of action right?!
(although as the Full Moon is in a fire sign, maybe that’s a sign to burn them!)
Take action
-What did I enjoy doing as a child?
-How did I feel when I was doing the thing that I enjoyed?
-When can I start to bring more of that into my life?
-Who can I share this with?
-What one action can I take this week to bring more of it in my life?
-What can I do this weekend that will satisfy my inner child?
Your Key Phrase for this Leo Full Moon is; I Will
Until next time,
