Summer Solstice

On the eve of the Summer Solstice I’m reminded to pause and reflect on the year so far.

And I invite you to do the same.

The magic of nature

Tomorrow, on the 21st of June, we’ll be half way through the year, it marks the astronomical start of summer and it will be the longest day as we experience the longest period of sunlight hours (in the northern hemisphere).

So tomorrow I encourage you, when you can, be outside in nature. Look around you, see the flowers in full bloom, the ducklings becoming ducks, the signets becoming swans. Bees buzzing, Butterflies fluttering and the ever-lasting birdsong of Summer.

Take in the feeling of the sun warming your face, close your eyes and smile. Maybe a memory comes back from a holiday or weekend away where you felt completely happy & content…just outside.

If you can, find some water to dip in or walk by; I’m so grateful I live near a canal. It’s become my favourite walks after the school run. Being near water just gives me…it’s hard to explain; a feeling of connection, nourishment, peace, flow…all of that and more.

How do you feel around water?

And finally, not forgetting the beauty that is, the Moon; if you look up in the sky during the morning and perhaps late afternoon, you will see her waning in the sky as she’s making her way to new again.

A time for reflection & celebration

It truly is a time to stop, look around, reflect and celebrate nature and You.

Think back to your intentions or goals set at the Spring Equinox; Are you still working towards your goals?

The Summer Solstice is a reminder for You to check in with your goals, are you in alignment or have you lost track?

Spring was a time for goal planning (planting seeds) and taking action, you’ve worked hard to get here, to this very moment. And now Summer invites you to reflect on your journey, give yourself the space for celebration.

On reflection you may come across things that didn’t work for you, a plan, a project, a person, a feeling…whatever it was, ask why it didn’t work out, what you can learn from it, and then release it.

You don’t need to hold onto it for the rest of the year, let it go and make space for all the goodness that’s yet to come.

As they say, out with the old energy and in with the new!

Higher guidance from Tarot

When I shuffled my tarot deck, I asked what higher guidance can they give me for this summer solstice?

And The Fool fell out…

The Fool

The Fool is the first card in the Tarot deck and the image depicts a young person stood on the edge of a cliff about to embark on a journey.

They appear to be oblivious to the potential danger of stepping off the cliff, or are they taking a leap of faith?

Either way, The Fool doesn’t seem to mind, as they’re excited & curious by their new journey, going into the world with wonder, intrigue and the possibilities of so many opportunities.

They carry a white rose in one hand a stick with a bag on the other. At their feet is a white dog almost jumping at them. The Sun is shining brightly behind them; an encouragement that what lies ahead is bright & positive.

Quite simply it suggests the start of something new. An idea, a relationship, a journey, a career…

Are you thinking of starting something new but you haven’t quite figured it all out yet? Then The Fool invites you to take that leap of faith with your idea and go for it!

You don’t need permission, you don’t need to have it all figured out, trust You, trust the Universe and take that leap.

How to use the guidance during the solstice

The solstice is a time for reflection and celebration; so remember to celebrate how far you’ve come already before you take that leap of faith.

Here’s some journal prompts to help with the reflection process;

List one thing you are proud of.

What did you do to get to this point?
