Discover what action you need to take through meditation.

It’s 2 pm on a Thursday; I’m taking part in a 90-minute aligned action call with Tara Jackson as part of Tara’s Emobided Business membership. Tara has taken us through a meditation to seek guidance from our heart; what aligned action does it want to take today?

As soon as the meditation starts, I feel my body relaxing, the tension slipping away, and my mind slowing down.

This is what I’ve been seeking since I woke up this morning; when I wrote in my journal that I didn’t feel great, I felt scattered and stressed.

Even though I’d already practised Reiki earlier in the day, where it usually hits the spot; it didn’t.

So what did I do?

I carried on with the day anyway. I pushed through, took my scattered, stressed mind on the school run, into my work and finally onto the call.

surrender

As I focused on Tara’s words and the soft, gentle music in the background, thoughts came in and out… ‘Work on your social media, ‘research a project’, ‘carry on typing up your journals’…yet, as the meditation came to an end, I realised I didn’t want to move.

I was tired. I needed rest. I needed to stop. I needed to listen to my body. My body needed to recover.

And so I did.

I kept my eyes closed and drifted off.

Forty-five minutes later, I woke up.

Pushing through

I began writing up my experience in my journal and recalled the times when I worked 9-5.

When I was shattered, or I couldn’t focus because of the busyness in the office (an open plan office is no place for an introvert-empath), not wanting to speak to anyone, all I wanted to do was rest, and I couldn’t.

I pushed through to the point I was broken, stressed, and people thought I was rude.

All because we haven’t created our world or work environment to honour our bodies, our personality types and our natural cycles and put our self-care first.

listen

Don’t push through when you need to rest

Talk: To your manager, partner or friend and tell them how you’re feeling and what you need.

Remove yourself from the busyness of life and noise if you need to

Find somewhere quiet. In the workplace, find a spare meeting room you can retreat to for 10 minutes

Sleep: Not ideal if you’re in the workplace, but if you’re working from home use your lunchtime or break for a power nap. At weekends, instead of rushing around doing everything for everyone else, take the time out for You.

Meditate: 10 minutes of guided meditation can help you to re-focus, calm the mind & lower stress levels

Do what you need to do. Listen to your mind, body & soul.

And if you see someone else doing this, high-five them!

Tell them you admire their strength for listening to what they need.

Be the change.

Let’s be the change makers and start creating a world & workplace where we honour our natural cycles, bodies, personalities and minds and put self-care first.
