This was one of the questions asked when I hosted my Menopause Healing Support group back in 2022.
Another popular question was, “Will my peri-menopause symptoms return once I stop having Reiki?”
Both are valid questions and without sounding too much like a politician, the answer is more than just Yes or No…

The answer is; it’s different for everyone.
Letting go
Before we get started, there’s something you need to know about Reiki.
The energy will go where it needs to go, at that moment in time.
We/you cannot control where it goes.
We/You trust in the process, letting go and allowing it to heal those, sometimes, hidden parts of us.
Not sure what I mean?
Then lets look at a couple of typical peri-menopause symptoms and I’ll explain.
Brain Fog
If you came to a Reiki experience wanting to get some relief from brain fog, the energy (reiki) would be working out what the root cause of the brain fog is.
Yes, it’s that clever. Remember, we’re working with the universal energy.
So the energy is working out what’s the root cause of your brain fog;
-Is it a hectic lifestyle
-Rushing around from one place to another
-Caring for everyone but yourself
– Running on empty
All of this creates stress.
And having a Reiki experience gives you the time and space to stop.
To rest, recharge & heal. And lower those stress levels.
Leaving you with a clear and open mind.
Headaches
Headaches, usually occur during times of stress, or tiredness…
You need to look at the cause of the headache.
-If you’re stressed, what’s making you stressed?
-If you’re tired, what’s making you tired?
Lifestyle, work, overthinking, worrying…
Do you simply need to allow your body and mind to rest, heal and recharge?
Or do you also need to have some (maybe) difficult conversations to help you overcome this?
Or both?
Self-Care is a commitment
Self-care, like Reiki, is an ongoing practice & commitment to yourself.
Any positive changes or symptom(s) relief you experience should maintain. Providing you’re committed to You and taking care of You.
And this means, allowing yourself the time and space to heal, rest, and recharge.
It also means;
-tracking and monitoring your symptoms daily or weekly.
-recording your feelings daily or weekly.
-what’s happening in your life (recording any big events or upsets)
Then, over a period of three months, reflecting on the data.
You become your own Scientist!
Look for patterns in the data, does anything stand out?
This will help you to understand what, if anything, needs to change.
The biggest thing you need to track
How much time you’re taking for You.
You need the space to rest, recharge & heal.
Everyone needs this time; it’s all part of your self-care practice.

I’m coming at this from my own experience and from a holistic way of managing my own symptoms.
I know that if I’ve taken care of myself in the weeks leading up to my period, my symptoms will be mild.
And I know that if I haven’t, then I’m in for a tough ride.
When I talk of taking care of myself, I’m talking about how much time I’ve taken for things like;
-Practicing Reiki, meditating, walking and getting out in nature.
-Journaling, balancing work and play.
-Making room for play & joy.
I’m also talking about what I consume – food, drink, social media, TV, radio, people…
It’s my overall wellness package, my self-care tool kit.
As a healer, I can hold the space for you to rest, recharge and heal.
But at some point, you need to do the same for You.
